هنگامى که خبر شهادت «مالک اشتر» رحمه الله بامام رسید فرمود: مالک! چه مالکی؟ به خدا قسم اگر کوه بود کوهی بی‌نظیر بود و اگر سنگ بود، سنگی سخت و محکم بود هیچ رونده‌ای به اوج قله او نمی‌رسید و هیچ پرنده‌ای بر فراز آن پرواز نمی‌کرد. سید رضی می‌گوید: «فند» کوه‌هاى منفرد و جدا از دیگر کوه‌ها را گویند.
