و چون دهقانان انبار هنگام رفتن امام به شام او را دیدند، برای وی از اسب‌هاشان پیاده شدند و پیشاپیشش دویدند. فرمود: این چه کار بود که کردید؟ گفتند: عادتی است که داریم و بدان امیران خود را بزرگ می‌شماریم على (ع) فرمود: به خدا که امیران شما از این کار سودی نبردند و شما در دنیایتان خود را بدان به رنج می‌افکنید و در آخرتتان بدبخت می‌گردید و چه زیانبار است رنجی که کیفر در پی آن است و چه سودمند است آسایشی که با آن از آتش امان است.
